Default My Goal: To own a Lotus

Well, this is my first thread that I've made on this site, and it's about my goal, which I think I will be able to achieve.

I really want to own a Lotus.

I'm starting college next year and I think my major of Biomedical Engineering will help me in the future. I currently own a 2002 Subaru WRX that I bought myself and I've put about 6 grand into it so far.

I was wondering, how realistic is my goal, and how far down the line would it take me to get one? When did you guys first buy your Lotus?

    Thanks for your time

Everyone situation is different. Depends on your income or how much you are willing to sacrifice to drive a lotus. I believe you can get some nice ones in the mid 20k range. Sell your car, get a loan and put it as a down. Your monthly payments shouldn't be too crazy.

Oh this isn't really a short term goal. I meant this for after college, after my student loans are paid off. And yeah, I think a used one would be a good idea.

I know income isn't the biggest thing, it's how you live, how much you spend on stuff that counts as well.

if you put your mind to it and work hard, any goal will be realistic.

And how would a Lotus compare to a stage 2 Subaru WRX, if anyone has owned both?

your goal is definitely attainable, also kind of depends on what lotus you want. I bought my first lotus at age 20 and had similar dreams to yours beginning college. I entered college as an art major and already had the money to buy a lotus, but wanted to buy the car solely through money I made off my art/design work. My second year into college I decided to get to work painting and designing with almost all of my free time. It took me about a year but I was able to pay cash for my first lotus, a chrome orange elise, and it was a great car to have at school. Sadly the elise is sold and I moved on but it was great to have a goal in college and work you tail off to attain it.

its super easy and very attainable.

they really arent expensive cars to own now that they are brought into the country in large numbers. you could prob find one you could do a trade plus a little bit of cash on depending on what your subbie is worth.

Yea I'm planning on keeping the Subie for the Michigan winters

That's crazy that you got one during college. What about paying for college? I'd assume that should be priority # 1?
