My kid is too young to ride in my 7, but took my friends 9yo out and he was screaming the whole time. When we got back his hair was standing on end and he was running around the house like he ate a whole bag of sugar. He kept babbling on about how we got into 6th gear and were going super fast, I never got it out of 3rd LOL
Now for his dads ride ride we made it into 6th gear
It's optional, though by most accounts its a bit much for street use
This one is good too
