Default Lotus is back to making sports cars?

Interesting editorial about the change in Lotus' strategy, firing Danny Bahar and axing all of the new cars they had planned.

Decent read but there wasn't any need to insult the specific models.

I do like where they are headed and I love that I have one.

I'm a big fan of Lotus as well, but I think the company was headed in the wrong direction with those models. I'm glad the majority of them got the ax after further analysis. I think if Lotus can continue to sell cars like the Evora, Elise and Exige here in the states they'll stay in business for the simple fact that they build great and uncomplicated alternatives to the sports car establishment.

Most of the execs that Dany brought in got the ax as well, but not all. It was a mess, but things are much better and stable now.

I know Lotus; the top picture in the article is our race car.

We all know Lotus won't be able to survive by simply selling the Elise, Exige and Evora. Or atleast not with their current brand recognition. They need a car to launch them back into the lime light. With hope it will be the new Esprit doing that.

Lotus could survive without an additional model, if the three models were better defined. Maybe not grow and expand to be the British Porsche but survive for sure. I personally love the Evora, big fan but I can see why the marketplace may not be particularly open to it. Maybe the introduction of the Esprit will help.
