Default Series 2 or 3: Questions about purchasing

I'm unfamiliar with older Land Rovers and am looking to pick up one for beach/weekend fun and possibly to tow a smaller boat if necessary.

Anyone on here have experience with a Series 2 or Series 3 Land Rover? I really like the look, they can be had for cheap, and it would be a fun project.

    Thoughts and feedback appreciated.

I recently picked up an 03 Td5 for the exact same reason.
Great daily driver with no real mods as yet (tinted glass & Coopers tires) tows great and looks good (if you are into that look).

Not a bad price considering the electrics, turbo diesel, dvd player etc.

Hopefully none of the famous gremlins yet!!

    Good luck

If you've got Series questions, I'd ask the guys at D-90 Source:

so you went with the series 3? the series 2a has a much stronger gearbox, but it lacks sincro in first gear.
