Extended Warranty on an 08 RR HSE
Does someone have a good direction/experience to point me for a warranty?? I am on the fence about getting an extended one for my 08 RR HSE with 44k miles. Just got a quote at the dealership for $4900 w/$100 deductible for limited coverage OR $7900 for a full coverage with no deductible. STEEP!
Would like piece of mind for coverage as me dealer has been great with repairs, thus far, but feeling maybe the gamble to value is worth the risk...
Appreciate any thoughts especially from any dealers if on here.....

First, i want to ask these questions before i ancwer.
What was the previous warrenty when bought
new?
Have you had any major problems, or recent
repairs on the previous warrenty?
How long are both the warrenties extended for?
How much is it for an oil change and a full
service?

Car still is covered under standard factory warranty til 5yr/50k...Maybe plan on keeping car for 4 more yrs..new warranty covers 4 yrs/48k more miles. Platinum is everything covered no deduct, gold is more like power train. AC, bigger items, not the mickey mouse stuff but $100 deduct each time brought in for a looky. Just did an oil change ($80) and last full service was round $800.
So far, cross my fingers, no big issues with the RR. Just minor stuff like tailgate issue, accessory plug issues, door handles corroded so all 4 door handles replaced, trunk lid broke so they replaced, fuel door lock broke, they fixed, so minor pieces here and there which would obviously not be covered on the gold pkg...Last edited by daremo19; 08-17-2011 at 01:28 PM. If your keeping the truck for 4 more years I would pay for the gold coverage and find a good small independant Land Rover repair shop for all the small stuff and oil changes etc. Im on my third RR and haven't had any big issues with any of them but I hear horror stories so the warranty isn't a bad idea.

If you are going to keep your RR for 4 years and probably put just under 50.000 miles on it, nothing major should go wrong unless you are off roading it like dukes of hazzard. Now when it gets into the 6 digit range thats when you should start worrying. you'll probably save more $$$ if you don't do the GOLD plan for example, 4 years of ownership means 4 full services that add up to $3200. you will probably have no more than 8 OIL changes over the next 4 years which should add up to $640, thats if you don't do any CRAZY driving. $3200 plus 640 equals $3840 so you would have saved $1060 without a warrenty. Thats what i would do because i am cheap, but if you don't care about saving $1060 then go for the GOLD plan.

The moment my RR hit 50k and was out of warranty everything started going down hill. At 51 k my right side air suspension went out then 2k later my left, that right there was 2800 worth of repairs plus a lot of minor issues and things I still have not fixed. I am not sure if you will save money or not. I love Range Rovers but I am tired of the repairs.

Whatever you do...Either get the warranty or sell it. Mine had tons of issues over 50K...
