How often are you guys changing your oil?
My dealer charges $200 for the 510hp Supercharged engine as I understand there's a specific type of oil one can't get very easily or at all at your local chain stores.
I'm thinking about swapping filter/oil every 5K miles. Thoughts?

I personally check the oil at 3000 miles and if it's low, I simply add a quart. I then go another 2000 miles then get her changed but substitute one quart of oil for an additive that goes with any performance vehicle that lubricates the pistons and increases engine life and maintains power. go to autozone or something and they will know what it is. 5000 sounds good

I fully understand anything near the vicinity of an engine oil discussion has the potential of opening up pandora's box.

I'm averaging the typical 1k miles a month and will go in for my oil change today at 5k. i gotta say waiting 10 minutes per the manual to check the oil is a major hassle for me as i live in a condo which requires me to take the elevator. call me lazy. i wish it had a dipstick.
also i don't even know if the dealership sells the oil that i need in quarts. i'll find out today.

Seeing that I only have 100 miles on my RRS SC, I can only go by what the dealer told me. I was told by service that I should have it done at 7500 miles. As a gauge, on my BMW X5 4.8 I only had it done at 15k intervals. And it runs just fine. 45k on it. So I will assume that LR is using some oil similar to a synthetic blend like BMW.

the question isn't so much what does the manual or LR say about oil changes... it's how often do YOU change the oil. it's personal preference.
i just got mine swapped at 5K yesterday, but i may be selling the truck so who knows why i did it.
