HID lighting preferences (auto v. manual)
I share an underground/secure parking garage with a bunch of other condo residents so the HIDs on auto mode always light up when I start the car in the AM or return back home (dark).
I'd consider using auto mode all the time if not for the fact that the HIDs would fire up for maybe the 5 seconds I need to get myself outside to which there's enough light to have the auto mode turn the headlights off.
My guess is this doesn't make much if any of an impact on the longevity of the HID system, but I figured why put in the wear/tear if all it takes is my lazy arse turning a knob a click or two?
Plus, since the integrated LED DRLs w/ my Startech front-end are ALWAYS ON whenever the car is started, I don't really need the HID bulbs to function so it's even less meaningful in my scenario.
My typical setup has been click once clock-wise to fire up the OEM LED halos in combination with the DRLs for the flashy and functional look, but I'm getting a little lazy about it as I prefer to not have to tinker with the headlight settings at all.
How do you guys prefer to use your lighting options?Last edited by ROK; 05-23-2011 at 05:25 PM.

I usually turn so that my leds are on during the day then at dusk turn to auto so the headlights kick in when needed...if i had the startec like you rok i would probably just leave them on auto full time
