Default Lift or Lower a LR3 or RR-sport for less then $5.

To lift it 2" in the rear and 2-1/2" in the front:

I went to Lowes and purchased a "Threaded Steel Rod" 24 inches long by 1/4". This is stored on the isle that contain sheet metal scraps not in the screw section.

It is a hair too large so make sure the rubber is warm and not cold.

I actually spent some time getting the factory plastic pieces separated from the factory rubber. They are not clued but does take caution in removing them, I used a a thin section of a spark plug gapper tool, one of the ones that has long metal blades not the round ones.

Once the factory plastic pieces are removed I used them to measure and cut the new ones out of the "Threaded Steel Rod". The new ones are 8mm shorter on the rear and 10mm shorter on the front.

The rubber split in a couple of places because I didn't take my time(but not bad) so I applied a little glue to help hold them in place.

    To lower:
(although I have never tried to lower one the math works as follows)

Instead of shortening the rods you will need to lengthen them.
I would recommend lengthening them by 3mm in the front and 4mm in the rear.

This should drop your ride by about an 3/4" to 1".

    Here is more details:

I put mine in off-road mode just because it is easy to get underneath.

    1. Turn on the engine and turn the steering wheel all the way to one side, then turn the engine back off.

    2. remove the existing rear rods and the one front at the wheel that is turned "in", spray some armor-all on them to make them easy to get off, use your hands or I used a "upholstery panel tool", don't pull from the center of the rod or it could break, pull from the sides of the rubber end portion.

    3. Start engine and turn the steering wheel the other direction all the way and then turn the engine back off.

    4. remove the last of the rods from the front.

    5. take the rods to your workbench.

    6. separate the plastic center pieces of the rods from the rubber ends, this is easier if they are warm. They have little groves in them to keep them from coming apart so just take your time! You can use a toothpick to help slide them apart.

    9. measure and cut the new steel threaded rods by using the old plastic ones as a template.

    10. place the rubber ends on the steel threaded rods. Note: the rear are facing the same direction while the front are at 90 degrees.

    11. place some super glue at the seam of the rubber and the steel.

    12. let dry.

    13. spray a little "armor-all" onto the rubber ends.

    14. re-install the shorter rods unto vehicle.

    15. start vehicle, you should have it change heights at this time.

    16. your done, enjoy.

good write up, but our rods are different, but the mod would be just about the same. Our rear links are part of the sensor. Or was that the fronts?

A friend of mine in San Diego did it on his 06 Rover and loved it. He ended up removing them because he thought it was destroying other components of the suspension.

I can only speak for the LR3 and RRs (sport) haven't done anything with the RR. Most full size Rangies would be better off going to a shop and letting them recalibrate the ride height.

Might check with iBK3000, I think that is what he had done.
