    I was always curious, how come some people do pulls in different gears? is it because of that particular vehicles powerband?

    Typically dyno pulls are done in the gear closest to 1:1.

    Electronic boost controllers have been used for years to limit boost in lower gears for traction purposes and allow full boost in 4th+ for example to unleash the potential of the setup for higher speed pulls.
