Superleggera or Scuderia
2008MY in both. I am looking for people with firsthand experience with both. Not looking for teenagers (no offense) claiming what they believe is cooler, or will get more pu33y.
Any of you that know each car well, and can give me pros and cons of each would be much appreciated. And yes, I've watched Jeremy Clarkson's review on both going head to head.
There seems to be a 30-40k price difference between the two with having less than 5k on the clock (Scud costing more of course).
My take is the Scud is more rare, and will always retain better value. I mean look at what a nice example of a CS is still bringing!!
Guessing maintenance would be roughly the same, but which one has proven to have less issues?
TIA
*And before someone mentions using search function first, I can't even find it any more with this new layout!

I'm not an owner, and I know you don't want my comment on your post but you are right. The Scud would definitely retain it's value. I still see them selling at local dealerships for 80% of what they cost back on 07. On the other hand, if you're planning to keep it for a long time, then my comment is invalid.

I do not have experience with either even though I am not a teen....although I love both. Maybe pm SW.....he has both literally next to each other in his garage and from my understanding drives both regularly and is a true enthusiast so his opinion might be one of the best first hand ones.
Whichever you choose make sure you post lotssssss of pics and enjoy the shit out of it."If you wake up in the morning knowing your getting a paycheck whether you work hard that day or not......you will never be rich"

these two cars are about $50-70k in value. imho, i think the scud is better.
i differ on the resale value though. first, i don't buy cars based on resale value. second, SL has appreciated at least $10K in last 2 years. not so much for scuderia and it's only going to get worse when 458 scud come out in 1.5-2 years.
lastly, you already have an R8. i think a RWD scud would be a good change, unless you live in rain country.
drive both and it'll be easy to decide.

E-gear is disappointing vs the scud tommy. go try it, it's similar enough to the LP-570s so you could give those a try at your nearest lambo dealership.
08 SLs don't go for the same as 08 Scuds btw. You're comparing 135-150k '08 SLs to 175-190k '08 Scuds.
Your earlier 430 comparison (06-08) would be a closer discussion to an SL.
I also think SL prices have actually picked up in the past year, while the Scud prices have softened and probably might soften only a bit more as more pre-owned ones come onto the market. It's pretty much at the bottom if you ask me, just look at the 08 430s, most of them are 10-20k within a Scud range so pretty safe to assume prices won't get that much lower than they are now.
The CS has significantly picked up in price recently because well, there are fewer and fewer non-story ones available...at one point there were 47 available and that's when we saw CS prices in the 112s-130s, but now there's only 7-8 available so the price has picked up to 149k as the standard asking price.
Maintenance and upkeep on an SL will be much lower than a Scud, even a CS will cost more to maintain than an SL.
Hope that helps.
And whichever you decide, dump the R8 asap. imho, the R8 market has begun to collapse. V8s priced above 110 are just sitting. V10s have been trending downward from the 130-140k range into the 118-120s more and more often in the past month. It's definitely an R8 Buyers' market now.Last edited by freshmeat; 12-15-2011 at 02:36 AM.

Agreed somewhat bro. I knew 08 SL's were about 30kish less than an 08 Scud. I just tried making a deal on an 08 Scud. Numbers were off. While I agree R8's have softened, I think part of it is just the fact of the season. Dealers are offering WAY too low for them on trade right now. I think I can do well selling mine to a private party. I have yet to see one optioned like mine.
Funny thing is that I have no reason why I'm even looking at other cars! The R8 has been the best car I've ever owned, and definitely the best all around supercar out there i.m.o.
I just think I'm bored and have an early case of the Winter blues.....EARNED, AND NOT GIVEN....

I worked as a salesman at an Audi dealer in NJ, they are going crazy trying to get rid of R8s, we had one sit on the lot for 8 months, not crazily optioned, v10 vert, sold for 10k under sticker cause the manager was sick of looking at it.
I am a die hard audi fan but I think if you owned a AWD car you might want to switch to another one before taking a plunge to ferrari and RWD.
Once you have enough $ to own both the SL and a rarri i would say go for it.
Right now see what you can get for your car private-party (don't trade it in) and see what you can get a SL for.

edit- with all the new audis coming out as well (new S8, S7, potentially new RS4), the R8 price isn't going to hold up well anytime soon

The Superleggera is cooler, but the Scuderia will get more girls.
