RIP Dan Wheldon: We Lost A Great Today
The motor racing world lost one of it's great drivers today. The 33 year old two time Indy 500 winner Dan Wheldon was killed in a horrendous crash at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the final race of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season...
Instead of showing how he died I want to show you how IndyCar paid tribute to Dan.

Thanks for making this Aimee, I was about to.
Knew Dan personally, great guy and it's truly a tragedy in the racing world to see something like this happen. It's a shame that it takes something like this to change things... Senna for F1, Earnhardht for NASCAR, Greg Moore for CART, and now Wheldon for these f*cking ovals.
This is why I separated myself from the unfortunately traditional open-wheel system in North America. Rest in Peace Dan.

I met him once. He was so sweet and everyone who has ever mentioned his name to me and worked with him said he was truly a genuine person. My condolences to his family.

I had tickets to this event today and had no idea what it was, so I did not go. Had friends there though and from hearing about it, souned pretty horrific. RIP to Dan and condolences to his friends, family, and car racing enthusiasts.

i've lost 2 friends while racing, it's never easy. i heard about it while playing football today.
