    Default Scirocco-R Cup Germany

    Hey guys,

Don't really post on here much, but I figured I'd share some news that I'm fairly excited about. About 2 months ago, I filled out an inquiry for the 2012 Scirocco-R cup in Germany, and was sent an E-mail from VW Motorsport stating that they have received many submissions/Inquiries and they would have to narrow it down between all the applicants. Not expecting to receive any further response, I didn't think much of it, other than how awesome it would be to actually get considered out of the 200+ applicants.

I receive an e-mail last week stating that I've been selected to participate in a qualification process for the remaining 9 spots on the grid, and will be heading to Oschersleben, Germany come the first week of November, for a 2 day shootout to cement my spot on the starting grid for this coming season. I'm rolling the dice on this one, as I'll be leaving during the middle of my semester, and spending about 3K for the week on a broke college students budget, not including room and board, which my family in Germany will be hosting me thankfully.

Im hoping to seal the deal while I'm out there, I wouldn't pick up and leave if I didn't think I was up to the challenge, not to mention the the $$$ which is nothing to laugh at (atleast for me).

Anyways, just wanted to share my excitement. I'm fighting for a dream and It's slowly but surely starting to come true for me. Will update this thread from time to time and keep y'all posted

2.5 years of karting under my belt thus far (rotax, prd, shifter(seat time only), 4-stroke indoor/outdoor (2 seasons), endurance karting etc...).

This will be my first "big" step from karting.

    How old are you?

To be honest, if you drive a road car, the Scirocco won't be all that hard to adjust to. I should know, I just raced the MME enduro in Malaysia in early September for Scirocco R Cup China... ended up 2nd in class after 12 hours by ~12 seconds having never been in either the car or at Sepang, where the race was.

Always interesting to come across someone else that races though, so best of luck to you.

Aside from the slicks and the mild suspension it's essentially a stock car which should make it quite docile. It's all about the race-craft and driving a mistake free lap, every lap.

Im 22, still very mouldable, but Im confident in the fact that I know enough to be successful in this series given my experience.

Mind sharing your name? I see that you're from OC, so I'd assume you were talking about IKF and the various regional karting series when you mentioned that you had run PRD and the other classes earlier.

I ran in those series for 12 years, with my final year of karting being 2009 before stepping into formula cars. Who knows, we may know each other.

Only seat time as of now in the Rotax and PRD. Wish I did IKF/LAKC but I only started the karting at 19 when I was able to pay for it myself. The budget was always the biggest issue as the parents were always against the idea from the beginning. "Do it yourself when you're old enough" was their mentality, hence the late and extremely slow start. Slowly but surely getting there....

Seems like you've got quite the CV and racing resumé! Congrats man hopefully down the line I can acheive just as much, just playing the patience game for now

Shoot me a PM if you need any more info...
