GETTING INTO TO ALMS.
Alrite guys , I've been doing alot of thinking about what I'm gonna do career wise. And I'm going for Porsche and Ferrari tech schools, I would love to get to the point were i could be a mechanic for a ALMS team but I do not know how one would get into the whole alms world. If anyone has advice or direction that could help me get there I would be much appreciated. I'm 100% dedicated to this and and the sport. Thanks

A friend of mine drive the BMW's in ALMS, he got there by going though feeder series. My guess is you'll need to send out resume and start showing up at some of the shops and offer to do what ever they need done. You may have to go to work for a race school like Skip Barber working on there cars and geting some time in the race community. Good luck I hope to see you in the pits

Come be a mechanic at Skip Barber, its a great stepping stone to pro racing for mechanics... a lot of our guys are now mechanics on teams in indycar, alms, grand-am, indy lights, etc...

Go to a race. Pick a team. Tell them you are training to be a technician. Ask if you can work for free for a race weekend. Tell them you will do all the jobs that nobody else wants to do.
After the race, find the team owner and tell him your intentions then stay in touch.
I have a close friend that runs/owns a very competitive multi-championship winning team in Grand-Am. I casually asked if there was anything I could do to help on a race weekend I was attending. Minutes later I was in a team shirt, running tires back and forth to the Hoosier tent, and logging practice laps in the hot pits.
It was a great introduction!
It's hard work, always HOT as hell, and not very glamorous, but when your team is P5 with only a few laps to go and than pulls out a win, the feeling is spectacular!four [fawr, fohr]
noun- A cardinal number, three plus one. A symbol of this number, 4 or IV or IIII. A set of this many persons or things. A web site for ballers, yo.
adjective- Amounting to four in number.
idiom- On all fours.

Contact a team, move close to their location......and start sweeping the shop. Plus everything that the poster above me said.
