I want to be a GT/GT2/GT3 Racer
So, I am watching the Grand-Am Rolex race in Miami as I post and I have always wanted to race GT (Lamborghini Murcilago R-SV - FIA GT1 World Championship - Official Site), GT2 (Corvette Racing), or GT3 (FIA GT3 European Championship - Cars). Those are just examples of who I would like to race for.
The question is, what do I do? I don't know what to do, who to talk to, where to go....I don't have a lot of money to startup anything but I just wanna go fast lol.
I don't wanna race for the money or fame, I just LOVE cars and racing would allow me to take that passion to the ultimate level of competition. I can't do F1, prototypes, or any other small tight cars unfortunately due to my 6'4" 250lbs frame
As far as my will and dedication I am willing to do what ever it takes. From a physical standpoint I play basketball on a daily basis. So I know what it is to have self-discipline. If anyone one could give some constructive advice or point me in a progressive direction I would definitely appreciate it.http://www.youtube.com/statjr (Please Subscribe)

dude you dont just become a racecar driver unless you are some super famous guy who can actually bring the sport publicity or have ridiculous amounts of money to start your own team. Then they will bring in a noob. Racing drivers start out super young, start in karts and go from there. Many of us would love to be racing drivers, myself included, but you cant just be like HEY tomorrow im going to be a race car driver. Just like anything else, you need to start from the bottom and work your way there.

Go to your local go-karting center. If you can't beat everyone there... keep going till you can.. then you might have something to work with.

Juicebox has got it quiet right.
Depending on your age and talent you either start karting, win EVERYTHING and hope that somebody spots your talent and you move your way up through the different serieses.
Than there is the money option. If you've got enaugh money to buy yourself into a team you stil have to prove yourself worthy in terms of driving skills and much more. Money option 2 is, you build your own team- which is ridiculously expensive.
3rd option could be that you approach not so famous serieses. In germany we have the VLN for example. Pretty much everybody can enter it with a car thats been spect to a few regulations. Its still expensive but if you split the costs with your team its manageable.
I know how you feel. I want to be a racecar driver as well but its not as easy as you may think. The proper way is that your dad puts you in a kart at the age of 3, you love it and become much better than all the other kids, the racetrack owner spots your talent and gets you in touch with the right persons.Last edited by [Petrolsexual]; 03-06-2011 at 09:24 AM.
