In auto, the helmet is good for 10 years from the Snell SAH year. This helmet is brand new and has a Snell SAH 2010 certification, so it will be good until 2020.
Ya, the pro is extremely light and it looks awesome with the carbon fiber. But the few pounds I'll be saving isn't going to do anything in those skip barber cars. I think the sports version will be just fine for me.
I appreciate all your help though buddy. It really made this process a whole lot easier.

The allowable Snell rating is different depending on each series. Ask Johnny O and the entire corvette team @ Le Mans last year...

^ Simpson was used a lot in the Cup series awhile ago. They have kind of dropped off in road racing.
The higher end Bells and Arai's are very popular these days. Bells fit me wonderfully so I tend to sway towards them. Stilo's are that next step...beautiful helmets.
Its a matter of how much you want to pay, not what you need. Its about how much time you will be spending in the car whether its a Civic or an F1 car. A lighter helmet tends to be more expensive, but remember its the only thing on your head and if you have a heavy lid, you start to get fatigued after awhile. Same goes for the HANS, the professional series is TOTALLY worth it. Incredibly light...combine this with a light helmet and you have yourself a very nice set up that you can wear for long periods of time. It may not matter if you just use it for a half our at a time, but when you start driving long stints, theres a big difference. I would recommend finding a dealer/distributor so you can try everything on and compare.Last edited by Karter01; 06-09-2011 at 02:28 AM.
