Thanks for you thoughts. I still think its boring as well. Never thought it was interesting nor anything...
World's shortest fairy tale... Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?' The girl said, 'NO!' And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and hunting and played golf a lot and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up....

When I watch Nascar there is always something going on. There are often 5 to 7 yellow flags for sometimes big wrecks. There are usually 8 to 15 lead changes as well. Those lead changes are often from good old fashion passing on the race track. There is a good amount of strategy that plays comes into play, tires, fuel, and yellow/green flag stops.
How does 200mph and everything I mentioned above get boring? Is it the oval tracks? What about when they race on road courses? Is is still boring? I was trying to notice why I get very excited to watch Aussie V8 Supercars, but not Nascar on a road course. They are so similar.

I think one major turn off for me with Nascar are the cars themselves. Chevy Impala, Ford Fusion, and the Toyota Camry??????? Are you kidding me? I drove a Fusion rental car recently and it was like driving a gummi bear on roads made of marshmallows! The cars have nothing to do with the stickers they put on the outside. The only real connection is that the manufacturers supply the motor technology? I am not even sure if that it correct.

I watched the opening round of the Indy car series the other day and that was a snooze fest! Especially since the race was rain delayed for hours. The track was horrible and there was very little passing. The cars also look, in my eyes, to be very similar to how they were years ago.

Those are some of my thoughts on the topic.
what strategy? i've seen cars in a nascar race run out of fuel while in the lead with just laps to go.... not gonna happen in a good motor sport if you ask me.

AND YES IT IS THE MOST BORING THING ON THE PLANET

I went to my first NASCAR race last year. The driver introductions were cool, the national anthem was bitchin' (I felt very patriotic) and the jet fly over was awesome. Then they fired up their motors and I about wet my pants...so cool. When they made the first pass at full throttle I was in heaven. Twenty laps later I was ready to go home.

We left in the middle of the race and avoided the two hour wait to exit that happens when the race is over.

Watching the beginning of the race and seeing all the rabid fans was a lot of fun, but I cannot watch an entire race. I got four tickets for the race a few weeks ago and gave them to a friend.

Watch this weekends race at Bristol and tell me that's boring.
Watch darn near any Truck race and tell me how bored you were, particularly a short track race. Sure, it's not for everyone, and I'm not one to be a fan of the politics and advertising of NASCAR, but it's some of the best racing around in my opinion. (As is F1, IRL, NHRA, GT3, etc.) I'm just a big race fan all around, so sure, I'm tainted.
I also have a much different perspective on NASCAR racing from the standpoint that I don't sit in the stands watching a race. Usually down in the infield, on pit row, or in a hauler. If you can race it, I'm usually a fan of it. If you can't race it, we usually figure out a way to do so.

Not to insult the southerners (because part of my family are); I went to one nascar event in daytona when I lived in Florida and it was boring and annoying. Rednecks and beer and the phrase "here he comes" yelled some 100+ odd times. I went to the Formula 1 event in Monte Carlo in 2007 as an 18th birthday present and it had the largest variety of people of any motorsport event I've been too. It is one of my fav courses being a street circuit. I wish F1 would bring the V10s and V12s back. I guess Nascar is boring when watching the cars go in ovals the whole time. I used to joke thinking they would have prostate problems making that many left turns. The sponsors vary from sports too. Nascar has alot of beer sponsors and stores men would visit like lowes, home depot, ect. All the manufactures are like Chevy, Ford, Dodge, ect. F1 has sponsors and teams like Williams, AT&T, Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault, Mclarin, ect. My final statement: it all depends on where you are watching from. I do photography for champs sports and I hate football but never pass the chance to be on the field and in the action. If you are in the pits of any motorsport, it's great. No one likes sitting in stands far away or watching on tv. Baseball is an example of how boring that can be. bye bye

    Well said sir.

I was going to sit here and rage, but you are completely right.
I'm sure any of us sitting in the drivers seat would not think its boring, but watching it.. FAIL

I happen to enjoy NASCAR, but grew up watching it with my dad... I remember the day Dale Sr. died like it was yesterday... Anytime you put 43 cars on a track is exciting, but some tracks are boring which makes for a boring race. If you want to watch a good race, always tune in for Talladega.

    its 50/50..

It still amazes me that someone like Tony Stewart can gain 60 lbs and still have a job in a race car. .

Jimmy Johnson = perfect example of a Nascar athlete.
