Ouch, i hope he recovers and can come back and race.
I don't know if he might have some damage to his eye
RIP Surtees.

Wow....Poor Masa! I'm sure he will be just fine.....Let's all wish him a speedy recovery!
If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

The word today is that he is out of the woods and will survive. However, the extent of the damage to his left eye is uncertain and it is still unknown if he will ever be able to race F1 again.
This is the second big-time injury in a month due to debris striking an open cockpit driver. I wonder if this will spell the end of open cockpit racing, or at least the end of open wheel racing with no wind/debris screen in front of the driver?
I think part of open wheel racing's "awesomeness" is the sensation at speed from an open cockpit. However, adding a small lexan/composite windshield to an F1 car would be easy and relatively cheap (and would probably improve the aero of the car) and could really make a difference in this sort of scenario.
I imagine in 30 years we will look back on F1 cars with no front screen for the driver the way we look back on early F1 cars that had no roll-over protection.
