    Default F1: Bourdais out...quick rant

OK OK it seems that the F1 drivers that came from US racing leagues cant even compete in F1...the pinnacle of motorsports!

Bourdais OWNED CART/Champ car for a good minute but when he switched over to F1 he was weakkkk!

he is out of F1 before the season even ended

can someone explain why these types of situations happen way too often

    -end rant

I'd like to say it's not always the drivers fault but it is odd most of the American drivers can't hang with everyone else. Maybe they should have US tryouts.

Short answer. F1 is a different league of competition. Also, F1 is hugely equipment dependant. Would Bourdais have redeemed himself if he was driving a Brawn GP car? Who knows, but my best guess is no. Sebastian Vettle was driving fast and smart when he was the BMW F1 reserve driver. In his first year with Redbull and the car was not even close to how good it is now, he was fast. Drivers that want to become F1 drivers need to go to europe and race in some of the feeder series over there. They need to race often in adverse weather and get use to every lap being a qualifying lap. In F1 during a race, some drivers achieve the same laptime as pole position or quicker.

Now that Champ Car has become Indy Car, the cars have 400 less horsepower, are much heavier and the disparity between US open wheel and F1 is even greater. A successfull Indy car driver would struggle to qualify in F1.

Bourdais is not American, he's French !
He drove in Indy when it was still Champ car
This is his 2nd season and while he didnt have the best equipment, he was soundly and repeatedly beaten by his less experienced teammate...and that's the key in F1; you can bitch all you want about the equipment, but there is always one other driver with the same stuff....and if you cant beat him (and whine all the time), you get fired

also, F1 is not a spec series so the cars are so different to drive from team to team, year to year... some drivers driving styles dont mix well with what the car the engineers from the team produced. its very hard to get them to change the car to fit you, rather they would like to see you change.
