American Le Mans Series Practice Day Photos (Long Beach, CA) 04/16/09
Hey,
Here's a link to the pictures I took on Thursday, April 16th, 2009 at Long Beach for the ALMS Practice/Test Sessions that day. It was my first time using my Nikon D80 SLR at a race, so it's very amateur. I did some minor adjustments with Picasa. I also attached a link to two videos from the session as well. Hope you guys like them!
Thanks for looking,

Works fine here.. Pretty good photos, could stand to improve on the action shots with panning practice. You were in a great spot to shoot, but the background of the photos is defined, while the car is a bit blurred. It takes a lot of practice, and getting to know your equipment, but if you can blur the background, convey movement of the wheels with slight blur, and define the subject (the car) then you'll produce great results.

Example, from a shot I took at Mid-Ohio last year..

Not the best, but conveys the idea.

Great tips! It was almost impossible to pan since I was behind a fence and peeking my lense through the open holes
I was half holding down the shutter button because I was trying to get that one single shot everytime the car came around, but that meant the camera was focusing on the wall instead of the car when it came around. Hopefully I can get a quicker shutter speed so I can get that focus down. Thank you for the tips! That's a great photo of the 430 GT. They're quick. I'm disappointed I only saw 1 at Long Beach.
