Koenigsegg makes a small loss
My stomach simply sank in with these news
Especially with Pagani selling about 85 or so Huayra's in the last year.
Translation of the article can be found below (Mentioned numbers are in Swedish Krona):
Turnover drops from 83.5 to 74 million kronas and the Swedish sports car manufacturer Koenigsegg goes from profit to a loss of 6.8 million. According to the company's annual report.
After several years of losses, Koenigsegg turned to profit in 2009 and 2010. But last year it became red numbers again for the company that manufactures supercars in Angelholm. Sales fell from 83.5 to 74 million and 2011 ended with a loss of 6.8 million.
"The autumn was a bit tough and we began to experience other times of the market," said Halldora von Koenigsegg, wife of the founder Christian von Koenigsegg and employee of the company.
The decrease in sales is in line with what a car costs from about 9 million.
"Yes, about. But sales also includes some other sales, and there may be an example TRADE-IN CAR, which plays a major part of what lands on sales," said Halldora von Koenigsegg.
Koenigsegg manufactures about 10 cars a year and last year the company sold nine cars, one or two too few to make a profit.
"It still feels ok. We fight on, and it's been special times around the world that any business sense. Given what has happened in the auto industry and struggling with sub-contractors, we think that we have managed well."
Halldora and Christian von Koenigsegg is on the way to Pebble Beach in California to show off the model Agera R for the first time in the U.S. this weekend.
"We have quite long lead times so we'll see how quickly it turns, in 2012 or whether it will take until 2013 before it's full speed again. In the U.S., where it has been quieter in recent years, it looks better now."
According to the annual number of employees has increased from 37 to 42, and Halldora von Koenigsegg says that the company can survive without cutting back on operations. Through a set-off issue, the company also added about 43 million from major shareholder, the Norwegian entrepreneur Bard Eker and Christian von Koenigsegg's company Alpraaz.
"We become a stronger company with better solidity and principal owners' aim is to build the company over the long term," says Halldora von Koenigsegg.
In 2011 founded the subsidiary Koenigsegg Lifestyle that sells clothing and accessories with the company's sports car brand.''

I know it is just one year, and doesn't guarantee that they will make a loss this year, but makes me feel sad, especially given that Ferrari's, Lambo's, and even hypercar brands such as Pagani and Bugatti are reaching record sales for the past 2 years.
Hope their fortunes take a turn for the better this year once again.

I have a feeling things will get better for them. They are still not very well known. Only car enthusiasts know about them really...
