Lum-Tec Facebook contest.
Lum-Tec has decided to do a contest on their Facebook fan page. Lüm-Tec | Facebook
The winner would get to choose from the following prizes.
M15, Any C series, Bull 45 A6, M9, LUMzilla LZ2, M18
The reason for the contest is to boost the number of fans on the page. Do any of you have some suggestions as to how the contest should be set up?

I've got an idea I think is pretty good. Have people upload some type of picture (crazy, wearing a watch, some type of theme), although I wouldn't have it be wearing a Lum-Tec as that greatly reduces your entries. Then put a frame onto that picture that has the Lum-Tec logo, URL, and some watch images etc. Then have them set that image (that is in the Lum-Tec frame) as their Facebook profile picture. They also need to become a fan. Then on set date you randomly select a fan who's facebook profile picture has the Lum-Tec frame and they are the winner.
The frame thing is much easier than it sounds, if you need help with it feel free to let me know.If you need any help with web design let me know!

How many fans? Well as many as we can of course. =) My thinking is that Lum-Tec fans are scattered all over the world and the web. The fan page presents a way in which we may be able to get a better idea of just how many fans are out there.
Look at it as a rallying point of sorts. I pitched the idea of a contest there to Chris and he went right for it. The challenge now is to come up with a contest that does not exclude people who are not already owners but would like to be. People who are not likely to take part in an essay contest. I recently ran one with a nice price from Chase-Durer which was promoted all over with a crack team of judges and got very little in the way of entries.
A photo contest is always popular with many. But it leaves out those who are not skilled in photography and photo shop type programs.
Also every time I run one there is usually at least a few who really are upset their entry did not win. In fact a year or so ago. I had my second in command so to speak at W&CF resign along with half my moderators. As they felt the second in commands photo should have won the contest. They claimed the contest was rigged etc. That is the worst experience I have had to date with a photo contest.
I had very strong response though about three years ago with a contest for a brand I used to work with on WTF.
I guess I am really looking for the perfect contest. But as we all know. You can't make everyone happy.
A recent contest that was really popular was a best ad, and past slogan contest which Lum-Tec held in one of their forums. So I don't want to repeat those as it's been done and not that long ago.
At this point the one contest type that has been suggested the most here and on the fan page is a photo contest. So that might get the nod.
I am thinking a theme contest as there are times when a really neat theme idea can trump someone who can take a great photo of just a watch.
So does anyone have an idea for a theme top contest that would not exclude non Lum-Tec owners etc?
Also have any of you been involved with contests that worked well for you that have not so far been mentioned?

Hrm, I'm not sure if you may have misread my idea. Or I'm just comprehending what you said wrong. My idea required no actual design work/photography skills. They just allow Lum-Tec to put a frame (via automated website application) on their photo and set it as their profile picture. It would definitely grow brand awareness, and get many people interested to become a fan and do the same thing.
If you need any help with web design let me know!

Your right I did totally missed your idea. They do actually have a deal going now. For people that choose to use their new official LT logo as their avatar. They are offering a special discount.
With your idea how would we enter the people into a drawing? Have you a suggestion as to how we may be able to tie that in with the automated app?
