So I have a few ideas, I know what she likes.... kind of. But do you just go and have something done or do you get the OK on it?

I want her to like it, but I also want to like it hahaha...

I think I put more pressure on myself then anybody... trying to make it "perfect"

Drivenagain is the man! he is already putting up with my emails haha.

I had Jason design mine to my liking.... I also got the thumbs up from my sister and Mom.

So I am going in blind, but I know she will love it. As it ruins the whole surprise element if you take her out looking. If you want to be safe, see if you can scout her family to ask her what she would want etc.

I say NO. She will have to wear it for the rest of her life. Get something you can return and then let her pick what she wants. Just think if she was going to get you a car without you having a say. My 2 cents.

Raw then how do I use Jwade? hahaha...

I have taken her out shopping a bit, she has given me advice, and I think if it really turns out that she likes this or that we can change it.

thats a pretty good idea... but its still not a ring to put on the finger, or just order it from jwade and have him do some simple silver setting just for the proposal?

what size center is on your ring Jimbo? I like how that ring flows...

^i agree. when i took my then girlfriend (now fiance) to nyc for valentines, we did the whole ring shopping to get an idea of what she'd like. she had no idea i was going to pop the question in the next coming months. i think the most important thing to do was to find out the stone shape like hovy said. from there i just got a general idea of what she wanted. i started going to all the boutiques (both in dept stores, malls, and the local jewelry district in downtown). i found a brand that i really liked called tacori. they have some great designs, but for the design i wanted, i think the largest rock that it would fit was a 1.25carat. i bought the rock and basically designed my own ring, using design cues from the tacori different settings. SHE LOVED IT! pm me if you need help.

Between Allyson and I, there was no decision. I woke up with a hangover, face down in the sand on Newport Beach, when I called her to find out what happened: she said she was getting rings, when asked why, she said because I had proposed the night before......I don't drink tequila anymore.......

exact opposite for me, her older sister is unmarried and basically hated the idea that i was proposing. lets just say i made things right when i popped the question and they all saw the ring.

jimbo that ring is awesome... I know she likes princess cut because thats what we looked at this weekend. Second choice is emrald cut... Jwade is throwing some great ideas my way.

Thanks Eddie. Whatever Jason has in mind... works. Trust me! The best part about him, you tell him what you think, and he throws you 100 things that just get your mind thinking.

If you're not sure you know exactly what she likes, it's probably best to let her pick. It takes some of the surprise out, but is a lifetime of her wearing something she doesn't like worth the 30 seconds of surprise? If you have your heart set on being traditional and having the ring there when you pop the question, then just stick with simple I guess.

It's a good thing my man took me to choose, because it turns out that he and I have exactly opposite taste in rings...but then we found one we both loved.

My fiance and I talked about it quite a bit before I went and picked out her ring. I picked out the stone and setting and had the jewelry store mount it. She loved it and I liked it myself.
