    Default Engagement ring shopping

The time has come. I'm ready to make that commitment and propose to my lady. Been ring shopping for the past 2 weeks and all I got to say is DAMN!!! Why does this have to be so hard? I think I've narrowed down the choices but whats buggin me is the fact about where to buy the ring. I really want to make a statement with it, but living in the world that we do, spending this much is almost average.

Do i get the cartier/tiffany & co/harry winston ring with the 2 carat rock or do I get the ring made downtown by my mom's jeweler with a 3 carat? I went downtown and I found a 3 carat E color VS1 for what I believe is the market price after talking with other jewelers (pm if you want to know the details). I'll be ordering the ring sometime this week and would appreciate any advice. C'mon fellas, I know a lot of you are wifed up as well.

Also, if anyone's got someone good to work with near LA, I would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance!

    First off, congrats!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but..... unless you have disposable income, why on earth would one feel the need to spend that kind of coin on a ring.

You found the one (girl). check
    You're in love. check
For better or worse, richer or poorer.. yada yada. check

That's the stuff that matters i.m.o.

Now, I know some women either demand or feel they need/deserve to have something of this caliber, but...... I always wonder, why?
It's a ring for cryin out loud!

Congrats man! Buying a ring is tough, especially the part with letting go of that much cash at one time

First thing's first. Know what cut she wants. Second, have some idea of the size that would 'satisfy' her. Face it. It's the single most important material object you will ever give her. Make sure she'll like it.

Do your research on the Four C's. Great website to learn is Blue Nile.

    Diamond Education

I did my due diligence in the Diamond District in Manhattan. Learned a lot. But ask your friends if they have a go to guy. That's where you can find some deals.

As far as a name, screw that. No one is going to ask her where the ring is from. Her friends just want to know how big and how sparkly it is compared to their own

My wife loves hers. Doesn't have a fancy shmancy name attached to it either

    Good luck!

No offense taken. It's a matter of choice. I'm sure there are others in this forum that have done the same for their significant other. And for that reason, I'm asking for their advice.

Lol, I mean heck, look at some of the watches the brothers of l4p are rocking!

I just edited my post...... I forgot to say Congrats!!

It is a big step, and in this case a huge investment.

Best of luck with you and your lady!
