Default Who has the best POINTS system?

I have been travelling more and more and I am really in the dark about which points I should accumulate. The chains all have their own point systems but are there any really good ones that will let you use it at several locations? I generally stay at cheaper hotels ($100-$160/night before tax).

Right now I am just staying at places that I can get Areoplan miles (Air Canada) and I rent cars from their proffered vendors as well.

    What are you guys doing?

If you are staying at hotels in that range, sign up for the Hilton Honors card. They have a wide variety of hotels under the chain.

Another problem that I run to is that I visit a lot of smaller cities in Canada like Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, and Fredricton. Of course, when I travel to LA, DC and NYC I have no problems.

I am platinum with SPG and Marriott. I like SPG better because even the real expensive hotels are only like 10,000 points. I also like the promotions SPG runs vs Marriott. Most of the marriott promotions are only adding more points. When you live in a hotel 4-5 days a week the last thing you want to do is stay there on the weekends. SPG last year did every two stays you got a $100 amazon gift card. They also do the free weekend night promo the past three years.

I say Marriott. But my opinion is biased because I work for them.

I have Marriott, Priority, Hyatt GP, HHonors, and Accor Club and I'd have to say that I enjoy Hilton's points program the best... I'm WAS platinum with Hyatt and currently Platinum with Priority, but being a Diamond HHonors is just amazing as far as extra perks go...
