DVD players
Okay electronics gurus. This forum was such a great resource in helping me pick my next LCD TV, now I need suggestions on another DVD player to go along with it. Nothing too fancy. Don't need recording capability. Just high resolution/HD quality to go along with my shiny new 1080p/120mHz LCD. Preferably something available on the Best Buy auction site

TIA

PS3 is a good choice. It's got an awesome gaming capability + blue ray/upconvert dvd player.

I have been using my PS3 as my main dvd/blu-ray player for a while now. no reason to buy anything else. I also rip dvd's to the hd and play games when I want, it is the best media & blu-ray player for the money.

PS3 is great because it is easily updated as software requirements change. If you want to control it via a universal remote pick up the BT2IR or the Schmart PS3-IRPRO they can control the as they convert IR commands to BT transmissions I think both are in the Logitech database as well if you are using a harmony remote.

I went with the Pioneer Elite BDP-95FD. It is a great Blu-Ray player and does a great job of up converting my old DVD's. I got it at Best Buy and for an open box price. If you go with any of the Pioneer players you won't go wrong. Oh and I think you are talking about the L4P member Art Sonneborn. He is a Home Theater Guru. You can also get a lot of info on AVSForum.com. That is how I found this site from Club411.

Not really interested in getting a PS. Bought an X-box2 when it came out and have used it about 5 times. Don't want to pay for another game console just for the playback capability.
Thanks Lasher. Pioneer? Really? Never though of them as high quality anything. Then again, I know nada about electronics. Any insight on Samsung?

Actually, Samsung is very good stuff as well with a lot of things.
I am getting rid of all of my home theater stuff if you are interested. I have only had my Blu-Ray player for about 6 months and would sell it to you if you’re interested. I still have the original box and everything.
Here is a link below of what all I have. Everything needs to be out of this room but the subwoofer I’m keeping. Thinking of turning the room into a Jacuzzi room with it sunk into the floor or bringing my pool table down stairs and making an all new game room.
Here is a link to my system. If you want a list of equipment it is here.
