Time for a TV...
Im moving into a townhouse at the end of dec. I currently have a 40" LCD and I need a 55"+. Viewing distance is about 11ft. Will be hooked up to Yamaha receiver powering a Pinnacle center, Canton towers and Mirage Omnisat rears. It will be used for watching daily TV and movies. Im leaning towards this: Panasonic TC-P58S2 Plasma 58-Inch, its on sale at Amazon for about 1100 bucks. Any thoughts or recommendations on something 55"+ with a max budget of 1400.00? Thanks.

I had a Panasonic 42-Inch Plasma and after about a year I started to have problems with it. Starting turning off by itself. I personally have had great luck with Samsung. I think they are better TVs, and they always get great reviews.

Or if you want an LCD instead of a plasma:

The other brand that is great that you might want to look into is Vizio.

Why not go with a LED? 55" Samsung LED-LCD 1080P TV! Bam, it's only $100 more dollars than your price range, but well worth it!

my friend has the 58 plasma from panasonic. it is a great value for the size. make sure your living room isn't too bright. or else the glare on screen will make it useless in day light. plasma screen (as well as certain brands of LED/LCD) has a mirror like glass in front - which looks great except for the glare.

I own both Samsungs stated above - the 600hz is in the living room 12ft distance away and it's amazing. the 55" led is in the rec room and its awesome as well... you will be happy with either
