    Default Roku Player?

I just bought a Roku HD XR and was wondering if anyone has one and how they like it? I got it to play netflix videos. It seemed like a good deal because unlike Xbox you don't need to pay for an additional subscription and I liked the wifi aspect that it doesn't need to be near my router.

I am prob really behind the times on this stuff because it is all new to me so I just wanted to see how people like it and if there are better options out there.

I feel it is overpriced and behind, I have a popcorn hour which while it was a little more expensive I have a local HDD, can stream files over the network or off the hdd, and the new version even comes with a bluray player.

For 130~ I'd expect more than Netflix, Amazon On Demand, and MLB.tv.
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

We have one at the office we play with. it supports DLNA so if you set up a server on your computer you can stream media from you PC to it. It seem OK. kind of a toy to me. you are limited by the speed of your network and internet connection.

I believe the best they do is 720p. Once I saw a good 1080p signal (Blu-ray) on my TV I knew there was no going back to other lessor formats.

I bought one over a year ago, this was the original version, I have netflix and amazon, movies which I download wirelessly from their server. Yesterday there was a software upgrade which now gives you better search capabilities, as before you had to go to your PC to put a film in your netflix queue, now you can do it directly from your TV.

I think Roku box is good but my gripe would be again netflix and amazon, unlike the dvd I cannot get close capturing or special features of the movies, even some of the so called High Definition movies are not in 1080.

My buddy has one. He likes and uses it a lot (not concerned about getting true HD or 1080p). I have a PS3 and just plan to use that to stream Netflix.
I don't know which is better getting paid or getting laid, all I know is while I'm doing one the others getting away.

Just gave my Father in Law one for Christmas so I expect to get some reviews in the coming days. We added Apple TV to our entertainment room and I'm looking forward to comparing them. Bottom line is there is no current technology that will replace a hard wired system with hard copy sources but the convenience is a feature that makes the lower quality sound/video worth the hassle.

    Update,

Roku, now shows Wealth TV, worth subscribing to, not if your download rate is slower than 3.0MBPS then do not bother.
