Now I'm curious how much better this is compared to say the PS3.

Let me put it this way, you could use the same principle about cars, not all cars are equal, same goes for DVD players. A multi regional DVD player out ways a single regional DVD player, it boils down to what you enjoy, a person like myself is not ashamed to state that I have a NTSE/PAL Laserdisc player, Multi-regional DVD player, Roku box and a single regional DVD blue ray player. All of them serve my purpose when it comes to getting the best of movies especially when the director of these movies is not happy with the domestic version of their movie and they release their version of the movie in only one format, or in one country only, if you are a die hard collector you want to see the best of that director's work etc.

Once again not all DVD players are the same.
