I think all DirecTV receivers are RF, but not all of the remotes are. You need an RF remote and then in the menu section on the receiver you have to turn on RF

Problem is I don't have a closet or anything near the tv that I can hide the receiver. I can't believe no one has come up with a DirecTV receiver card or smaller receiver.

    Thanks for the ideas guys.

You get a lot of range with the RF modules. You can almost put the box in another room and have it still work. ( a lot of home theaters use separate rooms for their equipment )
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

A few years ago a buddy had a dish and had a box that outputted to 3 tv's I believe. Maybe they still use them?

This is what I have on my Home Theater and I have DTV.

All of that equipment is inside of what ever closet you have the reciever mounted in and then the larger sensor is near your screen. Mine is all black and does not have that red dot on it though. Then all you do is point to the screen and press. All I see is a flicker of a blue light on the front of my screen when I change channels.
