    Default Media room design help....

My wife and I are buying a new townhouse in June. Its not our "perfect home" but we have to be reasonable as we have two condos that are investment properties and we are looking at the future. Our goal is to sell all three properties in about 5 years, and roll all of that into a SF home and have no mortgage.

That being said I have a lower level "rec room" that Id like to somehow turn into a home theatre. I have attached the floor plan. The only issue is that this is also the entrance level, so to totally blackout the room I have light to contend with from the two front windows along with the light that may come from the second level. I figured I would add motorized blackout shades on the two front windows, but unsure how I would keep 100% of the light from the second level from entering the room. Any thoughts on layout or design would be very helpful as Im not a very visual person when looking at plans.

    Few questions:

    Budget ?
    Type of Equipment (Plasma/Projector)?
Multimedia Equipment (Power units, Sound, Video)?
    Ceiling Height?

Traffic going thru this room to the Garage ? How much if any?

My budget is 15K, Ceiling is 9ft, I plan on using a projector, dont know what equipment I want to use yet. I have equipment now that will go upstairs in our living room so I will be getting all new equipment. I really need to go listen to some new speakers...I currently have older Cantons but I find they arent dynamic enough for movies, way too flat for me. There isnt a ton of traffic going thru room as I work from home, but traffic need to flow thru unobstructed.

Check out Emotiva (Emotiva Audio: Audiophile Quality Multi Channel Amplifiers, Stereo Preamplifiers, Audio/Video Processors, and Award Winning Speaker Systems At Direct Prices ) for amps and pre-pros- they also have speakers that have gotten rave reviews but I have not personally heard. I do own their amps and awaiting my pre-pro

I think we are here to achieve something. It's one life.
Whatever you do, keep yourself and people around you happy.
Even if you can't help them, don't harm them. I think that is pretty much life. Keep going, don't stand.
You got nothing to lose. Keep going, it's life.

you might want to check out outlaw audio as well. OPPO makes a great blu-ray player and speakers are all about preference and mixture, do you plan on more movies then music, do you want in an in-wall sub, things like that, there are lot's of options. I don't really post must if at all. LOL. but Audio/Video design as well as equipment is my business. If you have questions as you are going along let me know I'll be glad to help.
