+1 on the AV123 speakers...best bang for the buck IMO
I run all ML in my HT and stereo system..I dont think ML's are best for HT but are AWESOME for music. There are better speakers for HT

Your system is all about balance, no need to buy badass speakers if you cant power them correctly. I am assuming $5k all in?
I would do Outlaw Audio Receiver +AV123 speakers and SVS sub
you might be able to squeek by for $5k and will get the best bang for the buck out there

I'm hoping that he is already enjoying his (not) new speakers as he asked the question about a year ago.

I went with Definitive Technology, and have been very happy. 7.1 with the Ultimate In-Walls in sides and rear, and Front Towers with Powered 10" subs. My Definitive center channel has a powered 8" sub built in.

The sub in the center makes the most difference of anything to me with making everything realistic.

Bose: They sold out long ago, you may as well be buying Radio Shack Brand.

    Magnepans: Not for home theatre.

For the money you are talking you have to look at Paradigms. IMHO, nothing beats the Studio 100's if they have clean power. I have Studio 60's running off a Pioneer Elite Tuner. The Studio 60's are wonderful as well.

Sub: It might break your budget, but the single best sub on the market is the JL Audio Fathom F113. It is a beast, and sounds good as well. I seriously think if I got carried away, it would tear my house into a pile of sticks.

This is a personal choice question, what do you like to hear in a movie? how intense do you like your sounds? do you like hearing the bullet shells dropping in the Matrix movie? or do you like the whispers in the last dragon? plus are you a Dolby digital person or a DTS person or SDDS person?

Its for a basement home theater, 100inch screen, room is about 17x25

Any thoughts on what i should get?

    thanks in advance!

Pick up ML's on the used market.
