Thread: GTspirit Supercar Of The Year 2009

Like I did over the last 2 years on GTspirit, I'm opening a poll to know what your "Supercar Of The Year 2009" is/was. This poll only includes own brand cars such as Lamborghini, Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche, etc..., this means that tuners like Mansory, TechArt, 9ff, etc... are not included. If you vote in the category "Others" then neither include tuners please!

When you've voted, please post a little "why" you've chosen that specific car.

When you need more details of a car, just copy and paste the name of the car in the search area on the GTspirit frontpage, and you'll find whatever you need!

Goal of this poll: I will bring the votes here and on GTspirit forum together in a frontpage post somewhere early next year

1) Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

4) Porsche GT3 RS MkII

Details: 3.8 Liter six-cylinder / 450 bhp / 0 - 62mph (100kmh) = 4.1 sec. / Topspeed 193 mph (312 kmh).



5) Wiesmann MF5 Roadster

Details: V10 / 507 bhp / 0 to 62 mph (100 kmh) = 3,9 sec. / Topspeed 193 mph (310 kmh) / Production limit to 55 cars.



6) BMW X6M

Details: 4.4 Liter V8 / 555 bhp / 0 - 62 mph (100 kmh) = 4.5 sec.



7) Bentley Continental Supersports

Details: 6.0 Liter W12 / 0 - 62 mph (100 kmh) = 3.7 sec. / Topspeed 205 mph (329 kmh).



8) Rolls Royce Ghost

Details: 6.6 Liter Twin-turbo V12 / 544 bhp / 0 - 62 mph (100 kmh) = 4.7 sec. / Topspeed 155mph (250km/h) which is electronically limited.



9) Lexus LF-A

Details: 4.8 Liter V10 / 560 bhp / 0 - 62 mph (100kmh) = 3.7 sec. / Topspeed 202 mph (325 kmh) / Production limit to 500 cars.

I voted the LP670 SV...

Several reasons: saw it in Geneva, sat in it, simply the best Murci made, last in the Murci series, seriously hot looking and superb performance

Just want to add some small detail:

Some might ask themselves why the Reventon Roadster, LP 550-2 Balboni, R8 V10, Panamera, ... and several others aren't there. Reason is that I only selected one car per brand. For Lambo I took the SV above the Balboni and also because the Reventon Coupé won the 2007 poll (so no Reventon Roaster here). I prefered the Wiesmann above the R8V10. Took the LF-A above Aston Martin V12 RS... etc...

Offcourse you can vote for that car, but then post in a reply, so I can make a list around newyear!

Been waiting for years for a "supra replacement."

the lambo, ferrari, porsche, lexus, and wiesmann are the real supercars there; the rest are just very fast luxury cars. my vote goes 100% to the porsche. not that i've driven any of these, but from what i read and hear, it has enough horsepower, is the most involving to drive, and certainly has among the best craftsmanship. subjectively, it's the only car with a real transmission, so it's the only one i'd consider voting for anyway

The RS isnt a supercar. Its a mean and rather serious trackday car. (I love and adore it).

Usually I'd vote for the 458 cos I'm a Ferrari guy. Havng to choose between a Ferrari and a Lombo I'd always go with the F-car. Because I want a proper dirvers car that makes my balls tell me "you want to take a ride!"...pretty much as with women..!

BUT
I dont think the 458 is a pretty car at least I dont like its look, as outstanding it is to drive but I just dont like its outside. I think a supercar is more about looks and show than how it is to drive, drift etc. It should go mindblowing in a straight line though. And all these things the Lambo does the best, I think. Imo its one of the most beautyful modern cars, its got some ridiculousness about it but in a good way. It goes, it sounds (even though I dont digg lambo sounds) and it makes the best complete package for the definition of a supercar.

All of the other cars listed arent supercar-ish in any way...
