Garage audio,any recommendations ?
Hello im finishing off the inside of my new 24x42 car work area. Im getting close to installing wireing for lights and ceiling fans and just started thinking about music. It has 14 ft high ceilings and a concrete floor so as you can imagine it will be acoustically challenged. Didnt know if someone made a speaker that worked better in this application or is there no hope??? Just wondering what some of you have used and are happy with or unhappy with. I can go with a shelf system or at this point i can run wires anywhere i wish before insulating. Thanks in advance

Acoustics are basically screwed but its a garage not a concert hall
My personal ruff and weatherproof speakers of choice would be anything in the Definitive Technologies lineup, dont require a ton of power, a nice set could be had for under 500 easy, and they have a phenomenal warranty.
If the garage is heated any set of speakers should be fine, just be weary if its not- even the Def Techs are only good to freezing pont, at which point they recommend bring them inside to heat.

also you would only need two of those for that size area, you crank them up with adequate power and its gonna hurt after a while.

I'll second those speakers if you're worried about moisture. We've got them outside of our pool-house, and they sound great. If you want a cleaner look, there are a myriad of options, but I like NHT's (they're under new ownership as of a year or two ago, and the new manager has driven quality up and prices down):

Thanks guys ,i stopped at Best Buys tonight and they recommended Klipsch KS-14's at $279/pr.My shop will be heated and cooled when the speakers will be in use so now i have some options. The thing i liked about the Klipsch speakers is they are actually in a enclosure of their own and have a rounded front for more of a surround sound instead of something i'd mount pointed straight down in the ceiling.
Thanks again for the info/opinions.

Dont get in wall speakers for in a garage.
Also, why do you need outdoor speakers. From an electrical code stand point, a garage is not considered a damp, or even wet location.JEEP: The dirtiest of the four-letter words

B&W CT7.5. They are made to be mounted on the wall (come with mounts). They look very modern/industrial and sound incredible for the price.
