Default Does anyone else think that West Coast Customs is a bit too self-promoting?

I have been watching a lot of "Inside West Coast Customs" and "Street Customs". The work they do is phenomenal. Without a doubt some real masters of craft.

But Ryan is constantly saying "This was a challenge for us blah blah we pulled it out blah blah its the best there is". I have no problem with confidence but he says it for at least 110% of his speaking rolls.

Also, he has a leather print with the WCC logo in it that he uses on a great deal of cars and I think its just too much.

And the Best Buy deal? And the Orion deal? And Continential? Asanti? Juice Blendz? Monster? Rockstar? etc etc.

I think hes a master of merchandising, but they are there to build cars.
    Any thoughts?

From my interpretation of it all, the branding all started once he brought in someone to actually RUN the business for him. You see her in a few of the episodes, Amy Boylan. She used to run Shelby America, before stepping down to take on WCC.

He's definitely making money hand over fist.

Yea he's definitely commercialized the custom car scene with the tv shows and all the publicity, and I do agree he uses the logo a bit much, but like you say he does good work and the owners are always happy. As a result he's rich and has a very successful business. Lucky bastard

Just like Paul Sr. on American Chopper when it was on. Scripting.

don't let the tv fool you guys. i've seen many cars they've done in person. most were car builds that were even done on the show. the camera hides a LOT. i've seen the cars back at the shop in later episodes in the backround. i'm not saying that everything that comes out of there is crap but it's not all great either. not somewhere i would take my car.

Its marketing. Look at Disney or Apple. They do the same thing.

Buying from big companies isn't typically cheaper or better. Maybe the have hookups to cut out the middle man

    I wasn't gonna say it.

Overhaulin was the same way. I've seen two of their cars in the shop right after the build. Won't even get started on what needed to be done with those!
