I would take the keys, take the car 4 a drive and place a letter saying "thank you very much." on the parking spot.

What I would do is take the keys and instead leave a piece of paper with your name and phone number on it with a nice little message.
"Didn't want to see your car stolen so I took the keys so that no one could take it for a joyride, call me and I'll give you the keys back"
