Default my new toy and a question for current f1 owners....

this is my first ferrari and my first f1 transmission car. My murci wasn't egear either so I have no experience driving the f1. I was told not to let off the gas when shifting but in the brief period I drove the car around yesterday I felt if I let off the gas just a little bit it makes for a much smoother shift. Of course when I pin it I didn't let off the gas and the car felt amazing its just the regular cruising that I am wondering about.

    thanks in advance

current: ferrari f430 spyder, ml63, range rover sport supercharged

sold: murcielago roadster, bentley continental gt, lexus ls600hl, bmw x5, srt10 viper, corvette, etc.

    Congrats!

I grew to love it after a couple hours.

Love being able to downshift with just one little click.

Always found it smoother to let off as well btw.

rather odd..... we always took our foots off the gas when shifting. always thought it was abusing the clutch not to. obviously DCT is diff but you have a regular f430 spider as we did so same situation. I guess you lost me too. we always took our foots off during shifting.

Here are some ACTUAL useful answers from owners that are friends of mine...

Tell him, normal for all single clutch flappy paddle gear boxes (F430, 599, Lambo SL, M5, etc.). If he wants a smooth shift during cruising, that's the way to do it. For the newer dual-clutch trannies, letting off the gas isn't necessary.

And when accelerating, not to keep the rpm high, shift up and then keep it low for better sound and keeps the car healthy

    Congratulations on your pick up!
As far as shifting...I dont take my foot of the gas when shifting, but i do lift it a bit to change gears smoothy..what i noticed in my scuderia was a huge
"kick" or "jolt" when shifting at high speeds with the pedal firmly pressed. This my be normal, but for a better drive and a smooth ride i like to lift my foot a little bit. Enjoy, hope this helps a little
