Default Ferrari 599 replacement: new details

New details have emerged about the replacement for Ferrari's flagship front engined GT, the 599.

Codenamed F152, it will get a 700bhp version of the FF's 6.3-litre V12 mated to a tweaked version of the 458's sensational dual-clutch gearbox.

All that power and clever clutch technology should hurl the 599 replacement from rest to 62mph in 3.2 seconds, and on to an eye-widening top speed of 215mph.

The chassis of the next GT to emerge from the Modena stable will be based loosely on the FF, too.

That means a monocoque with extensive use of aluminium and other exotic lightweight alloys, that should see a huge chunk of weight shaved from the 599's already relatively dainty 1,690kg.

The new car won't inherit the FF's clever four-wheel drive system, though, instead using a Formula 1 inspired electronic rear differential to deploy the 700 rampant Italian stallions to the tarmac.

Don't be surprised to see a lot of hi-tech hardware carried over from the 599XX experimental technology study either.

Styling wise, expect the F152 to take tips from the finely chiseled 458 Italia...that is, until it's ruined by the inevitably hideous Mansory body kit that will no doubt be developed.

As yet there's no word on price for the 599 replacement. Expect to sign away somewhere around quarter of a million pounds though - without options.

The CEO specifically said that this car would have more than 700hp in a recent interview.

Are all new Ferrari's gonna have those headlights started by the 458?

    I hope not.

This thing is going to be a monster. I'm not sure how I feel about that front.. I guess i'll have to wait and see how the production model looks.

I can't stand the front end on that render...I'm sure Ferrari corp will come out with something much better looking though like they always do.
