The 250 GTO and the XKSS define the term "automotive art". Great story to, I got chills down my spine!

Amazing cars and very amazing footage of these timeless pieces of rolling art! I can only hope to see an original 250 GTO some day! I have seen a replica Jaguar D-Type that was made in New Zealand, full livery! Even thou it was a replica, it was so well done and true to the Jaguar racing form!! Thank you for the story and encounter with Steve McQueen!

There has been many many amazing automobiles that have graced the pages of this community from Carrera GTs to 599 GTOs from Muira to Reventon to Zondas but sir your car is one of the most beautiful automobiles ever made. Thank you for sharing it with this great community. We truly appreciate it and welcome to our community.

Thank you all for your enthusiastic responses. In addition to being an amazing car to own when I was going from teen to adult, the car continues to make connections to incredible people so many years later. I sold it in the early seventies to Alain de Cadenet and it now resides in the Ralph Lauren collection. Currently, it is on display in Paris.

I was able to acquire the car from a rock & roll composer/arranger when my mechanic Sal di Natale called to say 3987 was in the shop and the owner wanted to sell.

This is an account of my first encounter with Steve McQueen:

In 1966, I was at the Chez Club in West Hollywood to see Buddy Rich perform. I was a teenager at the time. A good friend of Buddy’s was in our party. She turns to me and says, “You ought to meet Steve. The two of you have the same kind of Ferrari.” I asked, “Steve who?” whereupon she leads me over to where Steve McQueen is sitting on a barstool waiting for Buddy to appear. Steve and I spent the next twenty minutes talking about the Firestone Indy tires we both had on our Berlinetta Lussos and other car-related topics. Steve's Lusso, which he was driving that night, had just been sold and I was introduced to the new owner whose name I can't recall. Decades later, the Lusso sold for $2.31M.

Now the lyrics to one of my fave all time tunes I've loved and been listening to for half my life makes sense... Never knew this was for real. Fins, gills like some giant piranha fish
