havent you had these for a while? They look so sick on the car since the brakes fill them up completely!

Is this the benefit of CF Wheels?

Read this on another forum, on a different topic and car but it made me think of this thread.

Less weight would definitely be a good thing, but when you consider that reducing rotational inertia is roughly equivalent to reducing the weight of a non-rotating part by a factor of 6 (rule of thumb - not exact calculation. People used to use a factor of ten but wheel manufacturers are finding that 6 is much closer).

Keep in mind that the work required to rotate (or stop) a spinning wheel is Force net θ = Δ( ½ MOI ω²).

My point (without killing people with math) is that significantly reducing the weight of the wheels (and tires if possible) along with lighter rotors and a carbon fiber drive shaft could result in significant performance gains.

Just using available carbon fiber drum Dymag wheels for our car could result in a 29.15 lb savings that, when multiplied by 6 (best guess), should result in the car feeling and performing like it just lost 175 lbs.

The drive shaft would have less effect because its' diameter is small relative to a wheel, but it would help - as would lighter rotors.

I have seen 6.2 lb all carbon fiber wheels advertised in shows. These could result in a perceived reduction of about 450 lbs. Of course, they never made it into production. Hopefully one day such wheels will.
"We were never satisfied being status quo. We were never OK just getting by. We pushed and drove at everything we have done in our lives to succeed in spite of those around us that would hold us back and naysay us. We finally realized that we needed to make our own rules to do things better. 99% of the people in this world do not understand us and what drives us.
