Ferrari Approved Warranty? Yay or nay for a 599?
The service manager of the Ferrari dealer called a couple of weeks ago about the Ferrari approved warranty and I wondered what some of your thoughts were. I kind of feel like it's a waste of money because I take amazing care of the 599 and it's never tracked so what really is going to go wrong? With that being said if something does break I feel like it will cost a fortune. Wondered if anyone more experienced, or in the biz, could shed some light on this.
P.S. Apparently you have 8 years to buy it from the in service date of the vehicle, so maybe wait a few more years then decide?
Challenge IT: your thoughts maybe?

While I might not be a Ferrari owner I can say things DO happen, its better to be safe than sorry. Im not wishing any bad on you but if something were to happen you'd be taken care of.

I think with anything you should buy a warranty. You never know what might happen, and as much as I love my Italian sex on wheels, I've heard a fair share of nightmares.

Warranties are usually a case of they pay for themselves the first time you have to use it.

I totally agree with you guys and I buy the certified or approved warranty for all my cars. The only thing is that I am sure this will cost over 10k and I just don't feel like were going to have that many failures on this car. Ferrari is in the printing money to go racing business so I gotta think this is another way for them to make some extra dough. Thanks for the comments keep'em coming.

I'd definitely get the warranty... as said above, things happen. Just consider the price of a full service then imagine if something like the tranny went kaput... 2nd mortgage
. With a Ferrari it's not the motor you have to worry about, it's the rest of the parts. The motors are bulletproof.

I've always been a self insure kinda guy. So I am a little bias. Extended warranties are a huge profit center for dealers as well as manufactures. Sure, there are some economies of scale, but they wouldn't offer them if everyone was going to come out ahead. Part of their model is relying on people selling the cars and not transfering the warranty or cashing in the remainder of the contract.
If you want it, not sure if this works for Ferrari, but you may want to call more than one dealer and shop the price of the warranty. On other cars, dealer mark up can be 100%.

Agree, get it - it will make you feel more relaxed and you can enjoy your car without being worried.
- my dealer told they "would not sell" pre-owned (Ferrari Approved) without the warranty.
