Default SHOP PERFORMS PPI AND FAILS IT, BUT THEY DID THE SERVICING 150 MILES PRIOR

Brian Crall of the Brian Crall Company
(Brian Crall Company in San Ramon, California. (ca.) #5225279)
was recently asked to perform a PPI on a Ferrari that was on consignment at Specialty Sales in Benicia
Specialty Sales Classic Cars - Affordable California Classic and Exotic Cars Since 1978

The result was that the Ferrari failed.
    and it failed miserably.

When the owner was told of this, he was very surprized and showed paperwork witgh receipts for well over 5 figures on a servicing just 150 miles prior. The owner further stated that he had accepted all items the service shop had found and paid for every defect the shop had found to be resolved.

The name of the shop that performed the major servicing just 150 miles prior?
    The Brian Crall Company.

The Collection in Miami did the same exact thing to me with a 993TT. They had replaced both turbos and literally a month later they tell the prospective buyer the turbos are bad!

The car had maybe 100 miles after they did all the repairs.

Any the tech that did the PPI was the same one that changed the turbos!

    These dealers are a joke.

unfortunately this type of thing happens all the time. if it isn't a crooked tech, it's the service advisor, or service manager. i worked at a chevy dealer and the 3.1 v6 was well known for lower intake manifold gaskets leaking. there was one tech that as soon as he found out the car had that motor would tell the service advisor it needed replaced. wouldn't even look at the motor to see if it did! i watched one service advisor tell an unsuspecting customer that her timing belt broke, which caused the timing chain to stretch, which broke some teeth off of the timing gears.

I don't know if Brian is a member here, but he's respected in the Ferrari community. Perhaps we should wait for him to chime in before casting him off into the fiery depths of Internet hell.

This sounds fishy. Brian is an incredibly well respected member of the Ferrari community out here.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Brian doesn't perform PPIs and has stated as much on F-Chat in the past.

It would be good to hear from Brian directly on this... I'm sure there's some incredibly important nugget of information that's missing from this story.

I am and it is my first and last post.

We write many 5 figure bills. Some of those cars should not be given a thumbs up after we work on them. Spending $10,000 or more dollars does not insure it will live up to anyones standards, including mine. We have 9 cars in the shop right now. I would not allow a client to buy 2 of those no matter how much we are allowed to work on them.

I know of one of the cars that either is or was in Specialty Sales inventory. It is a 456 whose frame was severly damaged by a body shop repairing it after a serious accident and was the subject of a law suit between the insurance carrier and the body shop. It has a salvage title. It should not have been allowed back on the road. I have told many people to stay away from it, and we did work on it after the accident repair.

    So what?

You can continue the Whitch hunt now kiddies.
