Yes. No car is built unless it was ordered by the dealer. Whether they have a buyer or are ordering a (standard) red/tan to put on the showroom floor. OR, the cutomer goes to the dealer and orders a car the way they want it.

It stays on the main line until after it gets the base color, THEN, it gets pulled off the main line and goes to the "customer request" shop. Stripes are painted on etc, then the car needs to re-enter the main line and adhear to its build slot/chassis# and get cleared and continue with the final build of the car. If you think you can get any factory, yes, even KIA to do it for less, I think you're wrong.

I would want the real deal if I was custom ordering a Ferrari. and wouldn't the VIN then match that the car came STOCK with the stripe from the factory?? that right there is priceless, much less to "just" pay $8000+ for a documented original Ferrari paint job...

doubt any bodyshop will charge 8 grand to paint the stripes on...I have had whole cars (nsx, miata, s4) painted for less than 5 grand (the most expensive work) from one of the best shops in houston using oem lambo paint on the nsx. house of colors on the miata. oem audi color on the audi. and my buddy had his whole rx7 painted using lambo paint for way less than 8 grand...1993 mazda rx7 wide body roller

    I do - thank you

"doubt any bodyshop will charge 8 grand to paint the stripes on?"

I think you've figured it out! - everyone should order the car without the stripe, then upon delivery - take it right over to any body shop you can find, and order the cheapest option possible to replicate a stripe - - Problem solved!

Hey it may not look right - but at least you saved a few bucks on a 300k car

No, go right ahead...order the factory stripe...I am sure it will give the car 20 more hp and some ooober spiffy aytalian farareee stripe craftsmanship. (yes I did mention "Craftsmanship" in the same sentence as Ferrari.)

Next proceed to the nearest starbucks and let it be known:
"check out my stripe guys...its from the factory"

dont forget your matching pumas...cause... you know....they match the spiffy stripe...

It's the same thing as buying designer clothes. Sure you can get the same thing at a discount store without the name brand that probably cost less and provide the same function, but you pay extra for designer because they fit just that much better or look that much better.
