Ladies and Gentlemen, this is big… Intorducing the McLarenMcLaren MP4-12C

In an age gone by, when I was more concerned with Barney and the Power Rangers that super cars, a British company changed the world. This company was McLaren, the car; the 550 horsepower, 6.1 liter BMW v12 powered F1. From 1992-1998, 102 cars were produces, and until our friend the Veyron came along; it was the fastest car in the world… well McLaren is back in the road car game introducing the McLaren MP4-12C.
The MP4-12C will be powered by an in house built mid-mounted 3.8 liter V8 pushing about 600 bhp and 443 ft-lbs or torque. This engine, produces more horsepower per gram of CO2 than any other engine currently available (including hybrids, and bio-diesels) clocking in at just under 300g/kg. Power will be put to the ground with a 7-speed F1 style gearbox (unfortunately no manual will be available now, but I’m sure if someone complained enough they would find one to throw in there), the engine architecture and transmission will grant an 8,500 RPM rev-limit and a top speed above 200 mph.

McLaren is adamant about making it a known fact that every single part on the M4-12C is unique, nothing is borrowed from any existing platform; and in true McLaren fashion, every scoop, curve, and vent on the body is completely functional.

The body tub, is a special one piece ‘Mono-Cell’ carbon fiber unit, that can literally be lifted with one hand. Yet another McLaren trend of not using any metal in their chassis.

The MP4-12C is expected to launch in 2011, and will clock in somewhere in the ballpark of $260,000 USD

Looks good I can't wait to see the final product though. Renderings are never the same. That steering wheel needs some work though...
