08 VW R32 quarter panel repaint.
Hi,
I've been an avid reader, but have not really participated in much. I've owned an 06 BMW Z4. 3.0i, an R56 MINI Cooper S, and now a proud owner of a 669/5000 VW R32.
Car was pristine when purchased. With 30k miles, I wouldn't be surprised if the original owner pushed it around places wrapped in plastic. Not a single scratch even. Clear bra in many places, all services performed every 5k miles.
I got two stone chips on the car (one of them big) that I've decided to touch it up myself and needless to say, I wet sanded too much clear... Car needs to be resprayed but will be professionally done by a shop many of you may be familiar with, iND.
I'm quite pissed at myself and yes, it was a stupid and costly mistake. Thing is though, I have this mindset that the car should be left with original paint for as long as possible; especially part like rear quarter panels. I'm very OCD about my cars and it's the reason it took me a while to find this clean R32. Now, I just can't stop thinking that it won't be the same.
Does anyone else have some paint work as such on even more exquisite cars? The way I make myself feel better about it is that, I'd rather have a spotless car that's been taken care of than one with rust creeping up.
I guess this is more of a rant, but I'm interested in others with similar situations.

A shop like IND will make it look exactly the same down to the orange peel.
Get the car repainted and stop worrying about it, it will look the same as it did before and most people will not be able to tell it was repainted.
post some pictures I want to see your r32

dont worry about it. just repaint it. jobs well done are usually better than factory paint.
