Thread: Geneva 2010: Hispano Suiza

The name Hispano won’t sound familiar for most of us. Still Hispano, which is from Spanish – Swiss origin, is a tradition make with a long history. After a long absence Hispano will be back at the 2010 Geneva Motorshow with a supercar concept powered by a supercharged V10 engine producing 750 bhp.

While it’s still a concept, Hispano promisses to start production this summer with first deliveries before autumn. Even better, the car will be produced in large numbers, large for this kind of cars. Price for this supercar will be around € 700,000.

hmmmm ugly car!

The Hispano Suiza concept marks the revival of this Swiss-Spanish car maker. The platform that is used for the Hispano Suiza is borrowed from the Audi R8, underneath the bonnet you will find a supercharged and tuned Audi engine made by German-tuner MTM.

Hmmm... I have always loved Hispano Suizas, but it seems like the only thing this car shares with the original marque is its name, much like the current Bugatti. I kinda like the way it looks -a bit generic- but a clean design. Having said that, I'm surprised they're actually going to produce them, a few concept cars under the marque have emerged over the years, but nothing ever came of them.
Also, I'm a bit surprised they're going to charge that much for a car that uses a supercharged Audi engine with two extra cylinders and a R8 chassis...
I look forward to seeing it in person nevertheless :P

Doesn't live up to the name. If they wanted to produce a new car, it should've been a close competitor to the Bugatti Galibier.
