Life Span of an exotic
Whats the usable life span of an exotic. Say, a ferrari or aston or lambo..
Most of the ones I ever see for sale have such LOW LOW miles on them and already have had work done. Clutches, pads, rotors, belts, etc. in 2000-3000 miles.
Whereas some american cars dont need service til 50k now.
I would love to have an exotic but even on a nice weekend, Id expect to put 400 miles on one. Will they last to 50k? 75k? 100k??
Whats the high mileage exotics first major faults?
How many miles do you have on yours and what major issues have you had?

I can't speak much from personal experience, but from everything I've read online Gallardos are holding up really well with higher mileage. I think a few people have hit the 50k mark on their Gallardos and haven't had anything major go wrong (with scheduled maintenance of course). Ferraris are high maintenance, but I would love to own one someday.
I don't know which is better getting paid or getting laid, all I know is while I'm doing one the others getting away.

as a former gallardo, nsx, and 996tt owner all i can say is that they can last the miles if you stay on top of them...the gallardo was the most expensive to mantain...that clutch cost something fierce....the 996tt broke down the most....the nsx was the best to live with but not as exotic...I have a brother with a porsche cgt and he drives the crap out of his....17k miles....but it costs him plenty to do so...and my dad sold his 360 with 80miles...again it cost him a lot and gawd did that car break all the time....but then again our climate here in tx is not car friendly...not are the country roads that we use a lot. I think location has a little to play with it. the cheapest car we have to mantain is my brothers dodge viper.....but the interior is literally falling apart...glue comming off...etc...so I guess there is a trade off in it all.

One of my friends puts a lot of miles on his Diablo without any problems. He subscribes to the motto: not driving your exotic so it will have a higher resale value is like not having sex with your girlfriend so she will be hotter for her next boyfriend. He does maintenance and hasn't had to do anything else other than wear-and-tear items (brakes, clutch, rotor cap, plug wires, some sensor). My opinion is that these cars will last forever with proper care, but they will cost more to drive because of the cost of maintenance.
I expect the Gallardo (all Audi Lambos actually) to do better than older models. And they are produced in high numbers, so won't be as collectable. This already means you aren't going to get a high resale value, so you might as well enjoy it.

I have over 16K miles on my '08 DB9 and the only money spent, service wise, was for the 10,000 mile service for about $1,200. The next scheduled service is at 20K miles, and will run about $2,500.
When it needs a clutch, fairly soon, the cost from the dealer is $6,000.“I’m sorry, but having an Aston Martin DB9 on the drive and not driving it is a bit like having Keira Knightley in your bed and sleeping on the couch. If you’ve got even half a scrotum it’s not going to happen.” - Jeremy Clarkson

get an NSX...as stated above all other exotics will cost an arm and a leg to keep running perfectly (which is indeed worth it if one has the means).
if you are looking for reliability and a fun car in one, you may want to consider a sports sedan or sport luxury coupe with nice power-to-weight ratio instead of an exotic (my 2cents).
