Default Thinking of buying a '10 Jetta TDI

Ok I wanted peoples opinions, I am seriously thinking of picking up a 2010 VW Jetta TDI. The car has heated leather, 7" screen, 6 speed manual, and no sunroof. It will most likely be decked out like a TDI cup car and be my daily. Thoughts?

I had a 2010 Golf TDI. I absolutely loved the car. I put 59,000 miles on it and averaged 44mpg. No issues while I had it BUT the failing high pressure fuel pumps scared me away. If the pump failed out of warranty I was looking at a 6-8k repair bill. I traded the car in before the warranty ran out and picked up a new GTI.

I'd just do some research on the car you're looking at. There are plenty of people that never had issues with the HPFP but I just didn't want to chance it.

I'd do it. Neighbor has the wagon and said he can get 50mpg if he really babies it. I'd do it. Plus they hold their value super well.

And this one has the 6mt, once you find that shift point that keeps you into healthy boost pressures it's actually quick enough to be fun

There are actually some pretty nice tunes available too.

Malone has a basic one that adds 44hp and 100 ft/lbs of torque, and apparently it doesnt hurt gas mileage at all.

The company I posted the link to has one that adds 4-6 mpgs. Which doesn't sound that great. I bet if you removed the cats or got a more free-flowing exhaust, that would help mileage too.

+1 If you remove some of the emissions equipment you will gain a couple of MPG. I wouldn't recommend it but its an option. I'm pretty sure APR just came out with a new tune for the TDI as well.

Let me add this. That 44mpg average was over 59k AND it included me towing either my track bike or my dirt bikes around pretty much every weekend during the spring/summer/fall months. If it wasn't for that my average would have been higher.
