Default Why has nobody raced (competitively) a Bugatti Veyron?

Considering how amazing the Bugatti Veyron is, why has nobody raced one yet?

Lack of series it could compete in? Cost? Handling?

Certainly a 24 hours of Le Mans win would be something Bugatti would be proud of considering their racing heritage. It would be great to see a customer run a serious race entry with the Veyron like some McLaren customers did back in the 90's.

Or maybe someone has and I'm just not aware?

To run the LeMans the bugatti would be parked refueling more then it would be on the track . .. .

can't the bugatti be re engineered to not suck as much gas or is it not as self explanatory as that?

I'm sure they could put in a bigger fuel tank if regulations allow it? (They'd need a fuel cell for racing anyway.)

The tank in the veyron is incredibly specialized and there isnt much room to put it. the only possible place to put an extra tank would be the trunk and that would kill the weight distribution

As impressive as the Veyron is, there are so many "specialties" and restricitions to this car that it seems like the majoity of these cars are to sit parked infront of hotels in Vegas ind Dubai. The only time ive ever seen this car really but to the test has been on shows like Top Gear. The car is truly amazing for its power and feats but what makes it so amazing is basically the same reason that it is useless to many.

Bugatti's were not built for that application. It is meant to achieve top speeds while maintaining its luxurious design aesthetics.

I don't know if I buy that. Lots of cars weren't built for racing, but people race them anyway.

Anyway, I think Bugatti North America is a sponsor here(?), maybe they'll chime in if they know of anyone who's raced or planning to race theirs.
