A car rental company that I can highly recommend for the ring is Car Hire | Sports Race Car Rental | Luxury Car Rental | Nurburgring | Nordschleife | Hockenheim | Lotus Car Hire | Driver Training. Great choice of middle and high end cars. Most of important, they are insured for ring racing etc...
Perfect! That's who I was looking at before....glad to know that someone recommends them

I'm honestly not sure, I'm working that one out with my friend right now.

My last trip to the Ring.

The Ring is a big place and takes a while to learn.

If your going on a public day, you never know what you can encounter, on public day I've encountered coaches and even quad bikes out on the circuit.

Remember it's huge and even after a couple of days you'll still have even more to learn.

The last trip I did was one public days and 2 private days. The first day it rained sideways, as it often does at the Ring and there were 16 incidents on that first day.

Not trying to put you off, just saying its not called The Green Hell for nothing.

The best bit of advice I was given is treat like a drive where your taking your kids to a new school as you learn the route pick up speed.

    Hope that helps.

^^^Very true. The Ring can not be learned within in weeks. It takes years to really get to know if you dont have a Michael Schumacher gene. But you can still have a blast without needing to go balls out.

And as a hotel I can also recommend the Dorint right beside the track. Its not a superior 5 star hotel, but it will definitely do for a weekend of racing.

It is a long drive from Munich to the Ring, but there are sights to see along the way if you have the time:

    * Stuttgart has the Mercedes and Porsche museums, which are both fantastic
    * The Rhine valley and good wineries
    * Heidelberg is a great city to spend an afternoon walking through

Another suggestion for lodging that we used while we were near the Ring during Euro delivery earlier this spring:

    Hotel Eifel, Urlaub Eifel, Hotel

The owners are great and Herr Miller was a chef in Chicago before they bought their guesthouse. The food is fantastic - probably the best meal we had in two weeks in Europe.

Munich go to the BMW Welt, also try to go to the BMW Museum and Classic.

    Hire a car.

Use the Autobahn for the obvious reasons.

As said above there are great museums and sites.

We stay at the AM Tiergarten Hotel. Owned by the Schmidt family, lovely people and Sabine Schmidt is a legend.

You must eat at the Pistenklause restaurant (in the basement of the AM Tiergarten)

Walls are covered with great Nurburgring history.

Now BMW Munich very well so if you need any help.....

Thank you for all the advice everyone! I am a little busy right now, but I will post back shortly.

We are looking to going to Stuttgart for sure to see the Porsche factory, as I am a huge Porsche guy and a Porsche Club of America member.
We will definitely be heading to the BMW as well. I appreciate the advice regarding the ring....I have one step away from receiving my racing license here in the states and I've done many racing schools....but nothing quite prepares you for the "Green Hell".

So my friend and I are in amsterdam right now and will be in Nurburg from the 3rd until the 5th....after that we head to Munich and Stuttgart. My question to all of you, are there are car meets/ is there a car scene that we can check out? We think it would be pretty cool to go to a "Euro", "Euro" meet haha
