Personal laptop recommendations check in!
Alright, so I'm going to branch out from lenovo. I'm going to be traveling to the left coast this summer for an internship, pending my background check. Anyways this is my justification for a new laptop. Don't recommend a mac, it will be getting linux'd.
I'm looking for something 13-14 inches, i5 or i7 and under 1400 bucks. Ideally under 5lbs with decent battery life. I have prettymuch zero brand allegiance but I was just at best buy and felt up a hate-p dm4t(which was my front runner) and just didn't like the way it felt, which is why I now have no clue. If somebody has something like this with either a good or bad experience post up."We can change the future, but the past is only written once, so leave your mark." -Slomaro

Samsung Series 7 Tablet? I'm loving them lately and am seriously considering one to replace my thinkpad.
i5 processor, 11" screen, Windows 7, SSD harddrive, super portable since it's a tablet, but also has a dock and can use bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Pretty sweet in my opinion.

11 inch is a little too small. I was actually looking at a 13.3 inch zen book and I didn't mind it. Forgot to put one potentially ridiculous request in. Must play 1080p video. I know they claim the intel hd 3000 can, I would like to hear that from someone who has done it.

^^ahhh yes I agree. But this will be my multimedia playing device. And if I want to play a movie through it on the tv it will need to push 1080p. Plus most of my ummm..personal backups of movies are in 1080p

Almost any modern day laptop will decode 1080p flawlessly. Unless its less than a core2duo you want have an issue. I can guarantee any laptop with HDMI out can play and display 1080p.
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
